The definition of Solicitor by the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language
is - One that solicits, especially one that seeks trade or contributions.
The Homeowners Association of Jamestown Colony, in response to complaints by
residents has taken steps to prevent solicitation within our community as it is bothersome
and interruptive to our privacy and comfort, excluding resident children that sell for
school and extra-curricular activities (girl scouts, boy scouts & school fundraising)
Our initial step was to erect No Soliciting signs at the entrances of each Section in our
neighborhood. While this was effective in reducing solicitation it has not completely
eradicated it. Truthfully, their is little that can probably be done to fully accomplish that
goal.
Therefore, the next step we are now taking is the creation of Homeowner Solicitor
Cards.
Utilizing these cards will hopefully reduce the stress and effort of getting rid of persistent
and fast-talking solicitors. Please click on the following link to display the Homeowner
Solicitor Cards. You can then print them, cut out the individual cards and immediately
present them to a solicitor when you answer the door. Slamming the door will also still
work.
